EA Sports Active

So after seeing the commercial on just about every commercial break during the finale of THE BIGGEST LOSER I decided to cash in my Best Buy rewards and get the EA Sports Active.

I have to admit that I’m very excited about this. I’ve seen the potential that is present in the new excer-gaming genre. The Wii has already proven you don’t have to be parked on the couch to have a good time playing video games. The Wii Fit showed you could use the Wii system to exercise, but it lacked the ability to take several of the exercises and chain them together into one “circuit” workout. The level of intensity wasn’t really there either.

The only other game I’ve tried is the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum. This game let you build that circuit, sadly the interface and exercises were awkward and I was glad I didn’t spend money on it. Clearly most of the money went into endorsement and not design.

I didn’t get the chance to try out My Fitness Coach because, well, I didn’t even know it existed. Reviews on Amazon were good. Had I known about it I would have probably tried it. Just goes to show that advertising is key.

I’ll keep you posted on how Active goes.
