I can’t believe how quickly I’m already coming up on the mid-way point of this 30 day challenge. 12 days already.
Today was a day of rest, and boy was it ever. I did actually get up and do the yard work but that wasn’t very “active”, at least it didn’t feel that way. We also went to the movies today and like a jackass I picked up a ‘medium’ sized Cherry Coke and a ‘medium’ sized Kettle Corn popcorn. Come to think of it I also picked up a Kit Kat. I know, what was I thinking, right? I’ll tell you what I was thinking. I was thinking, “I really want this stuff because it tastes so sugary sweet and so ummm ummm not healthy for me kinds of good I just can’t resist!” I know what I’m doing at the time but I’m so how able to compartmentalize that voice away while I go down the road of “I know I shouldn’t be doing this.”
I also have to comment on the silly sizing trend that has happened now. What used to be an extra large when I was a kid is now a medium regardless of what concession stand/fast food joint you go to. When did we start to give those that market to us the impression that bigger is in fact better and we’re only going to buy things if they are ridiculously sized? I can understand people wanting to get more for there money… really I can. Heck I spend a lot of time just trying to dissect the best bang for my buck when shopping, minutes I shouldn’t be wasting just to try to save 30 cents. I get it, really I do. Unfortunately this trend is doing absolutely nothing for the American society as we are consuming these over-sized containers of crap and consuming more calories than we should in one shot. It’s excess that isn’t needed. It’s excess that our health can’t afford. It is feeding a mind-set that we shouldn’t allow to continue.
Sorry… I didn’t mean to suddenly spring up on a soap box there. I guess I just hit my own nerve since I freely admit that I have poor will power (no pun intended) and don’t need the temptation around to have to fight it. From now on I’m just smuggling water and healthy snacks in to the theater. To heck with Kettle Corn!
