Today was my first day back at work in 10 days. Amazingly I got out of bed on-time, had a reasonable commute, and the work day went by quickly. It was everything you could ask for out of a work day if you don’t get to work from home.
Time and time again I think about just how awesome a work from home job would be and I only say this for the sole purpose of cutting out the commute. I love my house and hate having to not be in it for so many hours (typically I get home 12.5 hours after the time I leave in the morning). I’d live to gain back some of that time.
When I start thinking about this, however, I am reminded of all the people that have been hired recently at my work who formerly had work from home positions. They all had to find new work due to layoffs. In a completely non-scientific fashion this makes me believe I have more long-term stability in a job I have to commute to.
I really wish I had more to say but writing my column for Fred yesterday took all my words I think
